Hello, There are some serious faults with 6.2.8 Silver, regarding Radiation calculations.
When the 3D Model contains any Objects that are of materials Other than PEC, the simulation will crash.
Besides dielectrics, of other metals are assigned ( aluminum, copper, etc) , the simulation will crash.
This can be proven. Take any simulation model project, add a Box, assign as PEC, the model will converge to a solution.
Take same model project, re-assign the Box as ANY dielectric volume, or other metal (not PEC), the convergence will fail and simulation will crash.
Also, after every material assignment, and re-mesh, the mesh cannot be displayed. A mesh "array" folder appears, but no mesh file can be selected to open for view.

Re: Seriuos problem in Fasant Silver 6.2.8 Radiation calc with Dielectrics
Hello Dennis,
You are having the same problem that you found a few weeks ago. It is due to the “volume” objects (it doesn’t matter the material instead) in Radiation Map projects, that is not fully supported.
As far as I know, this problem has been already solved and you should receive the updated version very soon (today or tomorrow is expected). Anyway, note that “volume” objects will not be taken into account in the Radiation Map simulation. It means that you won’t visualize Radiation Map results if you run an isolated dielectric volume. If you analyse a dielectric volume together any PEC structure, then you will obtain the Radiation Map of the PEC structure.
Regarding your problems for visualizing the mesh, the reason is similar. Whenever any “volume” object is in the geometry, you have to change the Files of type from Mesh File (.msh, .MSH) to Msc Files (.mcs, .MCS) within the Visualize an existing mesh file chooser. Then, you will be able to visualize your mesh.
Regards,
Javi

Fasant Silver 6.2.8 Radiation calc with Dielectrics
Thanks Javi.
I would not have easily known about the File Types..... (.msh versus .mcs).
Concerning the radiation Map, only being displayed on the PEC structures, that seems odd.
Are you saying that other metallic volumes (aluminum, steel, copper ) that are not "PEC" will NOT show current densities or radiation from those objects?.
Aluminum volume structures will surely radiate, even if they are not "dielectric" volume
Thanks much, best Dennis

Re: Seriuos problem in Fasant Silver 6.2.8 Radiation calc with Dielectrics
Hello Dennis,
The volumes (it doesn’t matter their material) are always taken into account for radiation computation. The only results where this type of objects are not represented are the Currents, Charges and Radiation Map, but you can trust the results because the volumes have been considered.

Hello Dennis,
The new Silver version, which has already been solved the problem described above, is now available
You can download it on https://www.fasant.com/en/editions?ref=masthead

New Fasant Silver for solve of Volume objects, Thank you
Thanks, Javi for the notification of the new Version.
I will certainly try re-sim my models with this Version.
Best, Dennis

Fasant Silver 6.2.8.20 seems to solve Radiation calc
Hi,
I replied that Problem looks resolved in the other post ( crash, exit code 24 ) , by using Ver 6.2.8.20

Thank you Dennis, this topic will be also closed as the problems seem to be solved.
